Job description

General Summary:
  • This is an exciting pivotal role, leading the content and scheduling strategy for Discovery Channel in India and South Asia, ensuring it remains the No1 factual entertainment broadcaster. This role reports into the Associate Director, Content Curation.

Key Responsibilities:  
  • Sourcing and evaluating content – from third party suppliers and internal sources.
  • Competitive Scheduling – work with the Research team and use research database to create the best possible schedules that hit key performance indicators set by Associate Director.  
  • Inventory Management -   Keeping track of output/commission/co-production shows and appropriate borrows from other channels.
  • Planning & Scheduling – Design competitive monthly/quarterly grids that maximise marketing opportunities, working closely with the Audience Development team including media planning.
  • Weekly performance tracking of shows, planning grids and grid changes on the basis of ratings performance evaluation in conjunction with stake holders and the appointed channel programmer
  • Maintain an annual calendar and communicate plans with commercial and marketing teams.
  • Manage and Development team member(s)
  • Work with Digital team to help source short-form content
  • Material tracking for acquisitions and pipeline content
  • Fill in for other brands as and when required
